Chris Winn is a surreal-collage artist living in Minnesota. She graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and spent years working as a graphic designer. When the world slowed down in 2020, she saw it as the perfect chance to retire and dive into what she really loves—making art full-time. These days, she’s happily creating collages from her home studio

process
I have always possessed a storyteller’s imagination,
though writing never felt like the right medium for my voice. Over time, I came to understand that I was not without a narrative voice—I was simply approaching it from the wrong direction.
Collage has become the language through which I tell my stories. Each work begins with a simple thread: a childhood memory, an unusual phrase, a fleeting fantasy, or a personal concern. From these beginnings, I construct layered visual narratives using found imagery, texture, and intuition.
My hope is that viewers not only see the finished piece but also feel the underlying story—whether it stirs a sense of nostalgia, curiosity, or quiet reflection.
